Activate the SIM card
After you receive your SIM card in the mail, you'll need to activate it by going to my.unrealmobile.com.
Pro tip: use my.unrealmobile.com to manage your account, manage your plan and update your profile information, in addition to activating the SIM card.
Make sure you're ready to port your phone number over from your old wireless carrier before you start! If you plan to port a number into your new UNREAL Mobile account, it must be done during activation.
How to activate your Premium LTE SIM card
Step 1: Go to my.unrealmobile.com.
Step 2: Log in, and click "Please follow these steps to set-up your SIM" from the top of the page.
Step 3: When you reach the activation page, your SIM card number will already be there. This SIM card number should match the one that was shipped to you.
Important! Make sure the SIM card number on our website matches the number on the back of your SIM Kit package.
If the numbers are different, you will not be able to use your SIM card after activating, and may lose the phone number ported over during the activation process.
Step 4: Once you have confirmed the SIM card number matches, tap on Check Eligibility.
You will see three different options.
- Get a new UNREAL Mobile phone number.
- Bring a phone number over from another carrier
- Bring a phone number over from an older UNREAL Mobile account.
Getting a new number
To get a new number for your UNREAL Mobile device, click Get a new number. Search for the area code you want by typing in your zip code. A list of available numbers, with that area code, will be presented.
Transferring over an existing number
To bring a phone number over from another carrier, the old account must be active.
If you have already cancelled the old account where your number is being held, we will not be able to complete the transfer.
Step 1: Contact your previous carrier to make sure your old account is still active. You must also contact them to get your Account Number and PIN number.
Step 2: On the setup page, select Transfer an existing number.
Step 3: Type in the phone number you plan to bring over.
Step 4: Type in the Account Number and the PIN number that you got from your old phone carrier.
Step 5: Type in the full name and the physical address that is on file with your old phone carrier. The information you enter must match the information your previous carrier has in their database.
If there are any discrepancies (for example, if your old carrier has your name in their system as "John H. Doe" but you simply type "John Doe" into the form on our Transfer Number page) there will be a delay in the transfer and it will not go through successfully.
Please make sure all of the information matches.
The transfer will be complete within 24 to 72 hours. Texting may take longer to work than calling.
Upgrading an existing UNREAL Mobile account
If you'd like to bring a phone number over from another UNREAL Mobile account that you own, select Upgrade an existing UNREAL Mobile account. The system will detect any other accounts that you own under the same email address. If an account is detected, select it to pull the phone number from it. Otherwise, you will need to use one of the other two options.
Please Note: if your other UNREAL Mobile account is not detected, submit a ticket to customer support for further assistance. Click here.
Insert the SIM card
Your SIM card will arrive with three different sizes -- the nano SIM card (smallest), the micro SIM card (middle size) and the mini-SIM card (the largest SIM card size). Pop out the SIM card size that works for your phone and then insert it into your device.
Make sure you are using a GSM carrier unlocked Android or iPhone running Android operating systems 4.0 (or better), or iPhone operating system 7.0 (or better).
A lot of CDMA phones (newer ones) will also work on the GSM network.
Configure APN settings
It’s important to configure Access Point Name settings. This allows your phone to receive a data connection.
Configure via text message
After you insert the SIM card into your phone you will receive a text message. This text message will include a link that you can click on. The link will let you download the APN profile your phone needs.
Configure APN using the website
Visit https://www.unrealmobile.com/apn. Select the Premium LTE SIM card. Select your device type and then follow the instructions that are presented.
Calling & texting
Important! The UNREAL Mobile app is not necessary for calling and texting to work. If you have it on your phone, please uninstall it.
Use your phones regular calling application and texting application.
It’s easier to make and receive calls and text messages when you have synchronized your phone with the contacts in your email address book. You can synchronize your contacts when you sign into a Google Account on an Android phone, or an iCloud account on an iPhone.
To listen to your voicemail messages, you will need to access your phone’s voicemail application. Some phones -- like the Google Pixel phones and iPhones -- integrate voicemail messages into the same application used for calling.
Some phones come with a voicemail application preinstalled.
Other phones require you to dial a voicemail phone number. You can either press and hold the number 1 to call the voicemail line, or you can dial the number 1-888-288-8893.
If you are not sure where your voicemail application is located, check the manufacturer-provided user guide for your phone. You can do a google search for your phone model and the keywords ‘pdf user guide’. For example, if you are using a Samsung Galaxy S8 phone, search for the phrase “Samsung Galaxy S8 PDF User Guide”.
If your phone offers neither an integrated voicemail section or a preinstalled voicemail application, consider downloading the AT&T voicemail application, available in the Google Play Store for Android phones or the App Store for iPhones.
